Informa Resources brings together a new conference initiative to specifically address issues related the management of dispute resolution in the resources sector.

The inaugural Managing Construction Disputes in the Mining & Petroleum Industries Conference will be held in Brisbane on the 10th and 11th of November 2015.

Australia hosts a high number of resource operations and projects, including major capital projects in development in the mining and oil & gas sector. Market uncertainties and a challenging price environment have contributed to an increase in engineering and construction disputes currently in evidence in the mining, petroleum and LNG industries across the country, and the conference will provide a timely opportunity to analyse the challenges associated with the construction of high capital resources energy projects.

As the resources boom comes to a close, we are seeing more focus on this area of dispute resolution and the meeting will provide a platform for industry experts to share knowledge and comment on current project management issues and dispute resolution trends. Discussions will also provide a key opportunity to analyse industry preferences and procedures suited to the energy and resources industries.

The forum will features presentation from industry experts and researchers on the current trends and changes impacting the dispute resolution sector (including contracting, management of project, costs, risk allocation), how to manage contract variations, anticipate and manage disputes and analyse the current practices in use to resolve disputes. A number of roundtables will provide opportunities to share perspectives on investigation trends, dispute resolution models, dispute resolution boards, and arbitration and international best practices.
