Holden Jobs Fair
On Friday 26th August, Consultants from our Northern Suburbs branch visited the Holdens Transition Centre ‘Jobs Fair’. Holden has created a Transition Support Program to assist their employees impacted by the closure and to help them achieve success in new jobs and careers. The aim is to connect current associated workers with real job opportunities. While Holden is committed to manufacturing vehicles at their Elizabeth plant until late 2017, they will be gradually downsizing their operations in coming months.
From early October 2016, their daily production will be scaled back as they phase out building the Cruze vehicle models. This will result in a number of skilled employees leaving the business at this time or earlier.
In collaboration with the NSW Business Chamber and their subsidiaries Belmore Nurses, Talent Options, One People HR and ACA; Extrastaff will be assisting displaced automotive workers from GMH and other supply chain organisations by offering opportunities within Food Manufacturing, Aged Care, Administration, Apprenticeships and Indigenous employment.
The Jobs Fair was a huge success, with over 50

forms filled out by current GMH employees, many 1#1’s about the in’s and out’s of labour hire, networking with likeminded companies and pamphlets given out by the 100’s.
