With so many recruitment agencies to choose from it can be a daunting task to find the right one for you.
With offices across Australia & New Zealand, Extrastaff is a leader in finding permanent and temporary jobs for people and has been looking out for people looking out for jobs across a wide range industries for over 20 years. Building on its experience in finding all sorts of people for all sorts of jobs, Extrastaff has put together a list of the things people should look for when choosing an agency.
Beyond the most important factor (being the availability of work!) the Top 5 tips for choosing an Employment Agency are;
- Choose an agency that treats you professionally and respectfully at all times - first impressions count.
- Select an agency that gets your pay right and on time each week - it can be very frustrating if you are paid incorrectly and worse if you are not paid on time.
- Find an agency that is genuinely interested in working with you to find you the best jobs possible.
- Avoid agencies that suggest you should only register with them but do limit the number of agencies that you register with - 3 to 5 should be enough.
- Look for agencies with up to date technology - when you are temping with an agency you should be able to get SMS messages, see your pay info, work history and manage your availability online.
Extrastaff’s Managing Director, Declan Rowan, said "with the uncertain economic times and the loss of many full time jobs a lot of employers have increased their reliance on casual agency staff. From a candidate point of view, with so many agencies to choose from, we know that people are looking out for an agency that does more than just finds them a job. We’ve always taken the view that the candidate is as important as the client that we are working for and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in developing Recruit Online technology to make it easier for people to work with us".
Many people find their agency when they apply for jobs advertised in the paper or online (with job boards like CareerOne, MyCareer and Seek) but you can also find agencies listed on the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association (RCSA) website.
