"Looking out for people, looking out for jobs"

OH&S

OH&S, injury, rehabilitation and claims management are integral to any business but especially in the case of recruitment & labour hire companies. Our systems and processes have been developed over many years in the industry and in doing so we have drawn on resources ranging from our own experience, RCSA guidelines, state legislation and industry bodies.

We have also had our OH&S systems externally accredited and have been awarded SABS Level 3 accreditation by the Workcover Corporation (SA).

From our Clients' perspective our expectations would be in the areas of communication (of injury and reasons for the injury, etc), compliance with OH&S legislation and ideally as a participant in a return to work plan for the injured worker (if required).

The following are our expectations of our Clients in regard to both its dealings with our contract/temporary staff and our company.

Clients are responsible for ensuring any working environment in which a contract/temporary works during the period of the assignment is safe including ensuring any plant or equipment a contract/temporary uses is safe. In doing this our expectations are that our Clients shall:

  • Establish safe work procedures;
  • Communicate safe work procedures to each casual employee;
  • Comply with safety standards;
  • Maintain plant and equipment; and
  • Comply with all applicable health or safety legislation or regulations.

It is also our expectation that our clients will not request a contract/temporary to engage in any work or use any equipment that a contract/temporary or its employees or agents are unfamiliar with or unqualified to use or perform or have not received adequate training for.

Clients should also notify Extrastaff of any variation of duties given to a contract/temporary or if a contract/temporary suffers an injury in the performance of services under an assignment.

Responsibilities would also include those set out in out terms and conditions of business.
